Energy Commission of Nigeria Renews MoU with the University of Abuja

The Director General Prof. Eli Jidere Bala on behalf of the Commission signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at ECN Headquarters with the Vice Chancellor, University of Abuja (Uniabuja) Prof. Abdul-Rasheed Ibn Na’Allah who came with his team on Wednesday 9th June, 2021.

The team was welcomed to the Commission by the Ag. Director, Energy Policy, Planning and Analysis, Dr. Abdulwaheed Ahmed who emphasized the functions of the Commission as a policy making Agency.

The Vice Chancellor was enthused of his coming back to the Commission in continuation of the collaboration between the two Establishments, which he said is a national assignment. He reiterated that one of the areas to fortify in Nigeria is Energy. He noted that the two Establishments have a lot to gain in this collaboration and was hopeful that the results should begin to rollout immediately.

Part of the MoU is the establishment of a partnership through which both Establishments can foster and develop a framework that will be mutual to both parties in terms of resources, staff exposure to energy research and analysis, production of research journal, prototype development and patenting on renewable energy and other new and emerging energy sources.

The Director General in his remarks expressed his excitement with the renewal of the MoU. He assured the Vice Chancellor and his team of his continuous collaboration for the development of Nigeria.

Director, Legal and Energy Law, Barr. Mrs Funmilayo Abiodun was at hand to effect the validation of the signing of the MoU. In her vote of thanks, Barr. Mrs Abiodun mentioned that the first MoU was for 5years and expired last year, while this new MoU has been broadened cutting across 4 to 5 Departments, and is to span another 5years.
