ECN DG Hosts Governor Ododo as Commission Deepens Commitment to National Energy Impact Through Renewed Hope Solarization Projects

As part of its drive for broader national impact through renewable energy, the Director-General and CEO of the Energy Commission of Nigeria (ECN) , Dr. Mustapha Abdullahi, received the Executive Governor of Kogi State, His Excellency, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, at the Commission’s headquarters in Abuja, on June 30, 2025.

The Governor arrived at approximately 1:05 p.m. with his entourage and was warmly received by Dr. Abdullahi and senior ECN officials. Discussions focused on energy innovation and implementing policies at both state and federal levels to improve the lives of Nigerians.

Dr. Abdullahi briefed the Governor on ECN’s mandate and the National Energy Master Plan, a roadmap for clean energy transition. He also acknowledged President Tinubu’s support, particularly the approval of the Renewed Hope Solarization Project, which will install solar-powered streetlights in institutions across all 36 states.

Governor Ododo praised Dr. Abdullahi’s leadership in clean energy and national development, describing him as a worthy ambassador of Kogi State. He also commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for empowering young Nigerians through inclusive policies.

Dr. Abdullahi thanked Governor Ododo for the visit and reaffirmed ECN’s commitment to achieving 30% off-grid energy coverage across Nigeria within the shortest possible timeframe, leveraging the Renewed Hope Solarization Initiative.
